With big brother at school, my littlest and I will be doing some preschool learning at home. This week is all about the ocean and our new Step2 Jumbo Art Easel arrived just in time to get our craft on! One side is a dry erase board with clips for paper and the other side is a chalk board. I love that this easel is big enough for multiple children, so perfect for a classroom or if you have more than one child at home. The storage areas are awesome and can hold most of our preschool art supplies, making them accessible and organized. The little cups that hang on the front of the easel are perfect for holding water when watercoloring. The bottom part of the easel has a space that is perfect for storing paper or books. We’re excited to create many masterpieces on this easel! Keep reading to learn how to make a ocean themed craft with your preschooler!
MATERIALS
Step2 Jumbo Art Easel
Blue Craft Paints
Paint Brush
Thick Paper
Craft Glue
Sand
Little Shells
Goldfish Crackers
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Clip a piece of thick paper (watercolor paper works great) on the Step2 Jumbo Art Easel.
Step 2: Paint the entire paper with blue shades of craft paint. Washable paint works best for this age! While the paper is drying, clip on another piece of paper and your preschooler can paint another picture.
Step 3: Once the blue paint dries, use a paint brush to spread craft glue over the bottom quarter of the picture. Sprinkle sand over the glue and shake off any loose sand.
Step 4: Glue shells to the sand area on the picture. Count the shells as they are added. Allow to fully dry before turning upright.
Step 5: Glue goldfish crackers to the blue “water” area of the picture. Count the goldfish as they are added. Allow to dry.
Step 6: Once fully dry, you can clip the ocean picture back on the easel. Read ocean themed books to continue the learning fun! The Rainbow Fish, Mister Seahorse and A House for Hermit Crab are some of my favorites.
